Musanda Fistula Survivors Women Group

The Musanda Women Group was registered in July 2017 in Mumias East Sub County and operates in Siaya County. 

The Group has ten (10) active members and is headed by Nuru Anyango and Nerea Auma as Regional Representatives with the Group affairs being managed ably by the Group chairperson, secretary and treasurer.  

The Group prides itself as having a vibrant membership who, as fistula survivors, have managed to reach out to many with message on fistula and safe motherhood

Goat Rearing

The Group used its seed fund from LEFI to buy goats for its members. This project continues to grow with more goats being birthed. There are currently 27 Goats.

Table Banking

The group has cash circulation of Kshs. 70,000. The borrowing and lending process has helped the members to boost their businesses and families.

Welfare

Each member contributes Kshs. 300 whenever there is an issue affecting a member under this welfare scheme.

Savings

The Group has a total of Kshs. 39,000 in the bank account as a way of promoting the members saving culture.

Merry Go Round

Siaya Group is involved in a merry go round that involves contributing Kshs. 300 after 2 weeks for a member, meaning one takes home Kshs. 3000. This goes a long way to help the members manage their family affairs and small business ventures.

Dairy Farming

The members currently have a total of 3 cows which is in line with helping members become financially self-sufficient.

Individual Activities

• Small Scale Businesses – The members engage in fish mongering, Banana, vegetable, paraffin and chips selling business.
