Carolyn Anderman is an epidemiologist who has worked on maternal and child health issues in the US and internationally.
She spent many years as a Research Associate with Group Health Cooperative’s Center for Health Studies in Seattle, Washington, where she studied pregnancy outcomes, carried out program evaluation, and worked with both scientists and policy makers to bridge the gap between research and policy/program development.
From 2009-2018, Dr. Anderman served as the Director of International Programs for One By One (now Worldwide Fistula Fund), a US-based NGO dedicated to the treatment and prevention of obstetric fistula.
She worked closely with partners in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia to design, implement and evaluate innovative community approaches for increasing access to both safe childbirth and life-transforming fistula treatment services.
The opportunity to work with Kenyan partners to establish the Let’s End Fistula Initiative (LEFI) was a highlight of Dr. Anderman’s professional life.
She remains dedicated to supporting LEFI’s growth and continued success in serving women and girls in Kenya.
Dr. Anderman holds a Masters degree in Public Health from Yale University and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington.

Ann Tonje is a Project Management and Community Development enthusiast with a rich background in organizational governance and humanitarian work.
She is committed to making a positive contribution to everything that she undertakes. She thrives in an environment that is challenging and progressive.
Continual growth through professional challenges, life’s experiences is important to her.
Her passion for community and making a difference has led to the choices she has made in her personal and professional life.
She has served as the President of the Kenyan Community in Western Australia and as Board Member for the One Heart Foundation, Kenya Youth Futures Program and Ethical Communities Council in Western Australia.
She is committed to achieving sustainable development and tackling global challenges, demonstrated by her extensive development experience in Australia and Kenya.
She has over 18 years demonstrated experience in project management, providing strategic advice that has contributed to the development and implementation of policy initiative across a range of community, industry and financial programs.
She has specialized in connecting partners in regional and rural development for education, young people, tourism, reporting and governance.
She has also managed the Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network and Awards in Western Australia.
She is a graduate of leadership training programs. She holds a Master of Business Administration postgraduate qualification and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Business Majors).
She loves serving her community, travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Rebecca is a member of LEFI’s Advisory Board.
She is holder of PhD in Educational Management and Policy Studies with over 20+ years’ experience in management.
She has worked as a Deputy Director Capacity Building, Civic Education and Public Participation in the Ministry of Devolution and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL), Senior Assistant Director Higher Education in the Ministry of Education (State Department of Higher Education, County Director of Education and District Education Officer in the Ministry of Education (State Department of Basic Education).
All these roles have equipped her with the skills necessary to formulate policies, provide strategic leadership direction & oversight and ensure compliance in order for various bodies to effectively discharge their functions and exercise their powers.
With the launch of Young Champions Fistula Clubs, Dr. Rebecca brings her expertise and connections that will accelerate LEFI’s prevention component that is critical in ending adolescent childbirth related deaths and complications.

Dr Rebecca is a member of Education Management society of Kenya and has published the The role of headteachers in Guiding and Counselling of students in secondary schools and Institutional readiness for access to education by students with disabilities.
Dr. Rebecca having worked in Education sector for over 2 decades and being a mother of one lovely daughter, she is passionate about girls’ empowerment through education.
