Worldwide Fistula Fund

Since its inception in 2011, LEFI has had a single funder – this was One By One (OBO) until 2018 when OBO combined efforts with Worldwide Fistula Fund (WFF) through a successful merger. WFF is currently the sole funder for all of LEFI’s programming. As LEFI expands the scope and scale of its programming, an important priority will be to develop additional partnerships with foundations, agencies, businesses and individuals that would like to invest in maternal health and women empowerment initiatives.

LEFI is keenly aware of the essential role of programmatic partnerships and collaboration in achieving the goal of making motherhood safe for every woman. LEFI has established partnerships with the Kenyan government through the County Commissioners and continues to work very closely with local government leaders (area chiefs and village elders).

After the decentralization of the Ministry of Health, LEFI has deliberately established formalized partnership with 8 County governments under departments of health (Migori, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Busia, Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma and Siaya) by signing memoranda of understanding.

LEFI appreciates the important work done by other NGOs whose scope includes maternal health generally and fistula specifically. We are committed to learning from one another, striving to fill gaps, and ensuring that our collective work is complimentary in meeting the needs of women and girls in Kenya.
