Dr. Charlotte S. Polle (Chairperson)

Dr. Charlotte Polle is the Chairperson for the Let’s End Fistula Initiative Kenya Board.
Dr. Polle is an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and FIGO accredited fistula surgeon.
She is also a Public Health Specialist, with an MPH from Johns Hopkins University especially focusing on women and reproductive health.

She is currently faculty at the School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Kenyatta University as well as adjunct faculty in the School of Public Health, Department of Population and Reproductive Health at the same University.
Outside her Lecturer role she conducts fistula and pelvic floor surgeries around the country especially among the less fortunate in society who are not able to afford care.

She is also a Board Member of Fistula Foundation, a US based organization that focuses on treatment of obstetric fistula.
She is a member of various professional bodies including Kenya Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society, Kenya Medical Association, Kenya Association of Female Surgeons.

Sarah Omega
(Secretary)

Sarah Omega is the Founder and Executive Director for Let’s End Fistula Initiative after holding the position of the Country Program Manager for 8 years prior to LEFI’s formal registration as a Non-Governmental Organization.

Her passion in advocating for women living with fistula started after a successful surgical treatment that ended her 12 years of living with fistula. Since 2007, Sarah has been championing for maternal health at both local and international levels.

She served as the Kenya’s Maternal Health Advocate under UNFPA Kenya Office from 2007 to 2009, served as the Treasurer of the Board for Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital Kenya 2010-2015, served as a Board Member for Fistula Foundation California USA 2012-2014, and worked as a Consultant in Communication for Fistula Foundation 2013-May 2020. Sarah also serves as LEFI’s Board of Directors Secretary and as an ex-official member.

Sarah Omega’s passion to speak for the voiceless (women and girls living with fistula) was inspired, integrated, and ignited through successful graduation from the Leadership Training at iLEAP Seattle USA in 2012.

She was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the United Nations in Kenya on the UN Day 24th October 2013 for outstanding advocacy on behalf of Women with Obstetric Fistula and recognized as a Timeless Woman of Wonder in 2015 by the Timeless Women of Wonder Foundation (Africa).

Joab Kasi Tabakori (Treasurer)

Joab Kasi Tabakori is married and a father of three daughters. Joab holds a Graduate Degree in Entrepreneurship from Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education specializing in English and Literature from Kenyatta University.

He is a high school teacher and administrator for over 22 years. Kasi is a passionate networker and widely travelled across the globe.

As a father of daughters, his desire is to see his daughters grow up on a society that treasures women and regards them as equal players in civic matters and not a weaker gender requiring special favors.

Tabakori brings to LEFI a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship, administration and networking and a burden for the betterment of women. Joab Kasi Tabakori is the LEFI’s Board of Directors Treasurer.

Kennedy Otieno Olang'o (Member)

Kennedy is a Preacher, Entrepreneur, Counselor, MC, Soccer-Coach and is married to a fistula survivor.

He is the Managing Director of Stenna Crop Science Ltd; a company that deals with import and distribution of agrochemicals in Kenya and also serves in a number of boards including LEFI; as an executive and ordinary member.

He has cumulative working experience of over 18 years working as a counter sales representative, senior sales executive, general manager and secretary to the Board of Management.

Kennedy is passionate about service to the general community, derives this from his grandmother, mother and wife; thus, the bias towards female projects, loves sports, driving and spending time with friends and family.

Gladys Akoth Asino (Member)

Gladys A. Asino joined the LEFI Board in January 2020 and serves as a member. Born and raised in Western Kenya, Gladys is married with 4 children and 2 grandchildren.

She holds a Higher Diploma in Tax Laws Administration and Counseling Psychology from Kenya School of Revenue Administration and Kenya Association of Professional Counselors respectively.

Gladys is a tax collector with over 20 years’ experience in the Revenue Sector and Facility and Logistics Gladys is passionate about social responsibilities and thus bringing smile to faces who have lost hope.

With counseling skills, she offers herself to assist the women who may need help. She also brings into LEFI a wealth of experience from the Revenue Administration on tax matters and logistics.

Ruth Jepchirchir
(Member)

Ruth Jepchirchir is a board member of LEFI. She is a married and a mother of two sons.

Ruth holds a Masters Degree in Agricultural Extension Education, Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Extension education and a Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture all from University of Eldoret.
She is a lecturer and a business lady for over 5 years.

Ruth is committed and excited to be part of the governance team LEFI, where she will use her expertise experiences and circles of influence to be part of the history that LEFI is writing of making motherhood safe for every woman by ensuring that LEFI has the needed resources to smoothly run its activities and programs.

Ms. Carolyn Yegon (Advocate of the High Court, Kenya)

An Advocate of the High court of Kenya of over 9 years standing.
She serves the great nation of Kenya as a State Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice.

Currently, her direct responsibility is that of the Registrar of Marriages in the North Rift region.
She is also a member of the Law society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.
Ms. Yegon is a seasoned family lawyer and has women and children’s interests at heart. She is very passionate about community service.

For over three years while in private practice, she offered pro bono legal services for gender and family related issues in North Rift.

She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of law, and a LLB degree from Moi University.
On the social front, Ms. Yegon is a mother of one adorable daughter and assumes the role of a mother to her eight siblings, five of whom are female.

She brings to LEFI her legal expertise and her undoubted passion on women empowerment strategies and issues.

Dr. Teresa Cherop Lotodo (Member)

Dr Teresa is a lecturer and a section head, section of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Department of Pathology, Moi University.
She is also a practicing Hem pathologist at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and AMPATH for the past 8 years.
She has a passion in improving diagnosis of blood disorders in Western Kenya through training, mentorship and Research.

She has published 14 papers with Referred Journals and is a Principal investigator in Ampath Multiple Myeloma Program me.

Dr Teresa learned about LEFI’s important work through friends and having a background as a medic as well as having seen the suffering of women in her community since she comes from one of the marginalized communities (West Pokot) where incidence of obstetric fistula is rampant, she gladly joined LEFI as a board of director.

Joining LEFI’s board became a perfect platform for her to speak on behalf of the voiceless women in her community using her expertise and connections.
She also sits in several boards including, Hill school primary and Lewa children’s Home.

Formerly the chair of Kapenguria County Referral Hospital Board.
She is a biological mother of 2, Roy and Joy, a mentor to several young people and she is a dedicated women leader at her local church who is passionate in the area of women economic empowerment.
